Introducing the Niche-a-tive, home of the Niche!

Welcome! Thank you for visiting the new Niche-a-tive website, created around an old problem to offer a new solution.

The Niche was created to give moms a new and different option in public places to breastfeed their baby(s). An option that is comfortable, provides privacy if desired, sanitary, easily accessible and reserved just for them! It offers a seat, with optional armrests that are adjustable in height. They remain tucked upright, out of the way unless a mom desires to use one or both. Once pulled down, they can be moved up and down to meet the comfort needs of the mom and baby. The Niche can be opened effortlessly with one hand. Moms seem to always be carrying a lot of stuff and are usually lucky to have even one hand free! We wanted to make it easy for them. When done, the Niche folds up into its closed position effortlessly again with one hand. No need to fold up the armrests either if they were used. The Niche will do that for you as it closes.

The Niche is in final stages of manufacturing prototyping and is scheduled to be installed in various local businesses and public places for user testing and feedback mid January 2015. If you are a mom currently breastfeeding we would love your feedback. We will release the locations of these introductory Niches on our website in January. Check back to see where you can sit in one, feed your baby or just go see one in person. You will be able to provide feedback on site that will help us improve the Niche.

In the meantime, your feedback and opinions are very valuable. Fill out our short questionnaire on the website, or check out our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/thenicheative and leave comments or suggestions. Please like us too! Also, you can follow us on Twitter: www.twitter.com/thenicheative. Spread the word! We need your support to show retailers and venues that moms want these.

Thank you for your support and interest. If you are a mom and you want to see these Niches in the public places that have been challenging for you to breastfeed in let us know! You will be the voice that those places will hear and want to awknowledge.

  1. I can see the libraries in town adding these… there are hundreds of kids there weekly for Storytime. I bet Costco would be up for adding this too. Love the website, and the design looks so great. I didn’t leave the house for months after having my baby, and that whole first year when she nursed 24/7 was challenging to plan outings around her feeding schedule. She would get distracted out in public and would refuse to nurse, and then she’d get really cranky and it was really difficult for me, so I just didn’t go out with her much. I stuck with breastfeeding, but it sure put a damper on what I could realistically do that first year. This would have made life so much easier.

  2. Spot on with this write-up, I really feel this website needs much more attention. I’ll probably be back again to read through more, thanks for the advice!
